SIMON MANDELJ, CEO OF GEM MOTORS PARTICIPATED IN THE EVENT DURING THE VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION

During his visit to Slovenia, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, Daren Tang, visited the Jozef Stefan Institute, where he met with the Institute’s management, visited the laboratories, participated in the Intellectual Property and Commercialization round table and met with companies awarded with WIPO IP Enterprise Trophy. Representatives of the Slovenian research and business innovation ecosystem: Špela Stres (Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency), Gregor Majdič (University of Ljubljana), Sašo Džeroski (Jozef Stefan Institute) and Simon Mandelj (GEM motors) also took part in the discussion, addressing the role of intellectual property in today’s research and business environment. This year’s WIPO IP Enterprise Trophy and WIPO Medal for Inventors were also awarded at the event.
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 193 member states. It presents awards to outstanding innovators and creators, on the basis of nominations submitted by the national intellectual property offices. The aim is to stimulate Slovenian enterprises to intensify their cooperation with public research organisations. By celebrating the achievements of inventors, creators and innovative companies around the world, the WIPO Awards aim to help foster a culture in which innovation and creativity are encouraged and appreciated at every level of society. In 2021 GEM motors was the recipient of the WIPO IP Enterprise Trophy for their active cooperation with many public research organization, clear intellectual property management strategy and patents in many different countries.
